What is Protykin®?
Protykin® is a high potency 200:1 standardized extract of Polygonum cuspidatum (root), a powerful antioxidant and cardioprotectant that contains 50% phytoestrogens (natural plant estrogens). As a phytoestrogen, Protykin® helps maintain normal estrogen activity, reduce hot flashes, balance mood swings and promote healthy bone density. Derived from the root of Polygonum cuspidatum, an herb used in traditional Chinese medicine, Protykin® contains more than 1,000-times the amount of the same antioxidant ingredient in red wine that is believed to promote cardiovascular health and reduce the effects of premature aging.*
What
are phytoestrogens?
Phytoestrogens are substances in plants that mimic the
effects of human estrogen in the body. Their chemical structures are similar
to human estrogen and capable of binding to estrogen receptors, forming
active phytoestrogen-receptor complexes capable of inducing estrogen-like activity. In fact, phytoestrogens have been
present in the human diet for thousands of years. They are thought to be a
source of natural estrogens the human body has come to rely on to supplement the
declining levels of estrogen naturally produced by a women's body in midlife
and beyond.

How does Protykin®
work?
Protykin® contains powerful
phytoestrogens that have been shown to bind to the Human Estrogen Receptor and
enhance estrogen-like activity in the body, without causing any of the side
effects associated with synthetic hormone replacement therapy (HRT). In fact,
research suggests that the phytoestrogens in Protykin® are the same substances in
red wine responsible for the cardiovascular health benefits associated with
its consumption. These phytoestrogens also have the added benefit of being
antioxidants, which provides cellular protection against free-radical
attack, protecting the body against environmental pollutants and helps prevent the
effects of premature aging.
How is Protykin®
different?
The phytoestrogens in Protykin® are structurally very similar to Diethylstilbestrol (DES),
a synthetic form of estrogen commonly used in Hormone Replacement Therapy.
However, these phytoestrogens do not produce any of the side effects
associated with DES, such as liver and gallbladder disease, high blood
pressure, stroke, heart attack and certain types of cancer. In fact, Protykin®
may prevent many of the problems DES has been shown to cause. Protykin® (patent-pending)
contains more than 1000-times the amount of the same antioxidant ingredient in red wine that is believed to promote cardiovascular health and helps to prevent the effects of premature aging.*
How much Protykin®
should I take?
The recommended adult daily dosage is 4 milligrams Protykin® (200:1 standardized Polygonum cuspidatum extract)
providing 2 milligrams phytoestrogens taken twice a day with meals (a total of 8 milligrams Protykin® providing 4 milligrams phytoestrogens per day).
