PROVEN SAFE
A comprehensive safety profile on UC-II demonstrates a wide margin of safety for human consumption based on an array of toxicological studies. UC-II has been determined GRAS by one of the nation’s leading toxicology groups. UC-II was well-tolerated with no reported side effects in human, dog and horse studies. In an acute oral toxicity study LD50 was found to be >5,000 mg/kg body weight in female rats. Ames’ bacterial reverse mutation assay and mouse lymphoma assay demonstrated UC-II to be non-mutagenic. No adverse effects were shown in 90-day repeated oral dose toxicity study with amounts of UC-II equivalent to up to 100x the human recommended dose. Overall, these studies demonstrate the broad spectrum safety of UC-II.
CLINICALLY PROVEN EFFECTIVE FOR COMPLETE JOINT HEALTH Supported by clinical research published in the International Journal of Medical Sciences, as well as extensive dog and horse studies, UC-II is proven both safe and effective for long-term use. A 40 mg daily dose of UC-II was shown to significantly reduce key parameters for joint pain measurement after 90 days of intervention during a randomized double-blind study. UC-II reduced WOMAC (Western Ontario MacMaster) index score, which measures the difficulty in physical function, stiffness and pain in the knee, by 33%. VAS (Visual Analog Scale) was reduced by 40% and Lequesne score was reduced by 20%. Research results also showed that 40 mg of UC-II is more than twice as effective as 1,500 mg of glucosamine plus 1,200 mg of chondroitin and demonstrates the benefits of UC-II for increasing joint comfort, mobility and flexibility.*
