OptiBerry Questions

What is OptiBerry?

OptiBerry is a standardized, multiple berry anthocyanin extract formulated and tested for optimum safety, bioavailability, antioxidant and anti-angiogenic (the ability to reduce unwanted growth of blood vessels, which may lead to varicose veins and tumor formation) activity. OptiBerry contains a unique, proprietary blend of wild blueberry, strawberry, cranberry, wild bilberry, elderberry and raspberry extracts (patent-pending), which are known for their health-promoting properties due to their high content of anthocyanins.

What are anthocyanins?

Anthocyanins are common components of fruits and vegetables, in particular berries, which provide pigmentation (color) and serve as natural antioxidants. A growing body of scientific evidence has shown that anthocyanin-rich berries possess numerous potential health benefits and protective effects. OptiBerry contains standardized levels of anthocyanins, including malvidin, cyanidin, delphinidin and petunidin, in biologically active ratios.

How does OptiBerry work?

A growing body of scientific evidence has shown that anthocyanin-rich berries possess numerous potential health benefits and protective effects, including antioxidant and anti-angiogenic activity. Anthocyanins also help maintain DNA integrity, serve as anti-inflammatory and antimutagenic agents, and provide cardioprotection by maintaining vascular permeability.

How is OptiBerry different?

OptiBerry (patent-pending) is the result of extensive scientific research, which methodically evaluated key functional parameters, including ORAC (antioxidant activity), VEGF (anti-angiogenic activity), bioavailability and safety of numerous individual berry extracts. Based on these findings, more than 20 combinations of individual berry extracts were formulated and evaluated to determine the safest and most efficacious combination. Of the combinations tested, one stood out above all others, OptiBerry, a proprietary blend of wild blueberry, strawberry, cranberry, wild bilberry, elderberry and raspberry seed extracts, which demonstrated superior safety, bioavailability, antioxidant and anti-angiogenic activity.

How does OptiBerry compare with other flavonoids?

Anthocyanins differ from other natural flavonoids in the range of colors that can be derived from them and by their ability to form resonance structures by changes in pH. The positively charged oxygen atom in the anthocyanin molecule makes it a more potent hydrogen-donating antioxidant compared to oligomeric proanthocyanidins (OPCs) and other flavonoids.

How much OptiBerry should I take?

The recommended adult daily dosage is 30 milligrams, taken twice a day with meals. For additional information on dosing, follow manufacturer's recommended use printed on the label and/or talk to your healthcare professional.
