What is ZMA®?
ZMA® is a
unique, anabolic vitamin-mineral formula (patent-pending) manufactured by a proprietary process

How does ZMA® work?
ZMA® was designed to optimize the absorption and availability of zinc and
magnesium during peak times of muscle growth and repair. Both zinc l-monomethionine
(L-OptiZinc®) and zinc/magnesium aspartate are unique and highly bioavailable
forms of these minerals. The zinc l-monomethionine is absorbed in the
front part of the small intestine at the mineral "receptor sites,"
while the zinc/magnesium aspartate is absorbed in the back of the small
intestine via an "active transport" mechanism.
In addition, the zinc/magnesium aspartate in ZMA®
consists of a unique complex of zinc, magnesium and aspartic acid, which
enables the magnesium and zinc to reach the blood stream at the same time so
that the desired synergistic effect can be obtained. (Note: Most zinc and
magnesium aspartate products are not bound together in a single complex. Many
contain insufficient amounts of aspartic acid necessary to fully react with
the zinc and magnesium. Some are not reacted at all. These products contain
high levels of unbound, poorly absorbed inorganic zinc and magnesium mineral
salts, which are ineffective and may cause diarrhea or other undesirable
effects.) The addition of vitamin B6 further increases the absorption and
utilization of both zinc and magnesium.
How is ZMA® different?
ZMA® (patent pending) is the original zinc-magnesium supplement developed
by SNAC System Inc. and the only one validated by published research. Unlike androstenedione
(Andro), ZMA® is non-steroidal and won't cause undesirable side
effects. ZMA® is all-natural, comprised of essential minerals and
vitamins at non-toxic doses that are completely safe to take. Because of its
safety and efficacy, ZMA® is destined to become the anabolic product
of choice.
How much ZMA® should I
take?
The recommended daily dose of ZMA® is three
capsules (808 milligrams ZMA® per capsule) for men and two capsules
for women taken on an empty stomach 30-60 minutes before bedtime. The reason
for this is that healing, recovery, tissue repair and muscle growth are
maximized during sleep.
Additional Recommendations
Since calcium interferes with the absorption of zinc and
magnesium, it is recommended that ZMA® not be formulated with
calcium-based excipients nor taken with dairy products or other
calcium-containing foods or supplements. For additional information on
