STUDY SHOWS OPTIBERRY® PROVIDES WHOLE-BODY ANTIOXIDANT PROTECTION

Study Published in Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry

BENICIA, Calif., January 17, 2006 – OptiBerry®, InterHealth Nutraceuticals’ proprietary blend of multiple berry anthocyanin extracts, has been shown to provide whole-body antioxidant protection in an eight-week animal study conducted by researchers at Ohio State University Medical Center and Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. Results of the study were presented in March 2005 at the 44th annual meeting of the Society of Toxicology in New Orleans and subsequently published in the January 2006 issue of Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry.

“This study correlates previous research that has demonstrated the potent antioxidant efficacy of individual berry extracts,” stated Professor Chandan K. Sen, Ph.D., Ohio State University Medical Center. “Combining the ‘best of the best’ berry extracts to create OptiBerry has produced a blend that demonstrated optimal, whole-body antioxidant protection.”

According to Professor Sen, at two weeks, examination of animals fed OptiBerry and exposed to oxidative stress showed significant whole-body antioxidant protection as compared with control animals that did not receive the supplement. Similarly, at eight weeks, animals fed OptiBerry showed antioxidant protection from oxidative stress specifically in the lungs and liver. No oral toxicity was observed at doses of up to 5,000 milligrams per kilogram (mg/kg) and there was no dermal toxicity at levels up to 2000 mg/kg. The recommended daily dose for OptiBerry is only 30 milligrams twice daily.

“Given the safety and wide range of benefits attributable to OptiBerry, from anti-aging properties and blood-sugar support to cardioprotection and brain function, OptiBerry provides tremendous value for the health-conscious consumer as part of a healthy lifestyle,” stated William “ Skip” Seroy, president of InterHealth Nutraceuticals.

OptiBerry was developed by InterHealth after evaluating key functional features of numerous berry extracts and exploring more than 20 combinations of individual berry extracts. OptiBerry was found to be the most potent combination of all berry extract blends tested. Edible berries have been shown to promote brain function and mental clarity, healthy vision, cardiovascular health, and healthy skin. They also help prevent the effects of premature aging and promote urinary tract health, while providing blood sugar support.

OptiBerry is a patent-pending nutritional ingredient manufactured by InterHealth Nutraceuticals of Benicia, California. It is available in dietary supplements sold almost exclusively in natural health stores. Consumers can identify these products by looking for the OptiBerry logo on the label.
