Assessing Your Client’s Exercise Needs

When a client walks through your door, they aren’t simply a potential sale. To build a community of returning clients, you need to provide service sincerity and longevity. It starts with an assessment of your client’s exercise needs.

It’s true that exercise is just one component of weight loss, but it’s one that can’t be denied. No matter how many great products you offer to help boost the process, exercise is necessary. It’s crucial to understand that every individual will respond to programs differently and need a slightly different routine based on characteristics like sex, age, current condition, and ultimate goals.

  • Workout Length – A client might come through the door with the notion that staying fit only takes a few minutes of daily activity. In general, a five-minute workout on a daily basis only benefits those who are already in top shape. The more out of shape a client is, the longer their workout should generally be to see the same results. However, that does not mean recommending an hour workout every day to an obese client. All inactive clients should start off small with workouts of 5-10 minutes in the first week, 10-15 in the second, 15-20 in the third, and so-forth. On average, most people can maintain their general well-being with 15-30 minute workouts.
  • Frequency – This workout factor is less fluid. Advise clients to hammer down a routine in which they work out at least three days of the week. More may be appropriate for faster results or those who are training for an athletic event.
  • Type of Activity – Studies have shown that young women (age 20-30) experience a reduced blood flow due to emotional stress. Therefore, it’s recommended that they practice some form of meditation or stretching during every workout. For those of a middle-age, consistent aerobic activity mixed with mild weight lifting seems to have the best results. After age 65, when aches and pains can make those activities difficult, it’s better to focus on picking up the pace than picking up weights.

These are just three ways to assess a client’s exercise needs and help them create a realistic plan geared toward results. With exercise and a healthy lifestyle as the focus, providing supplements and products with ingredients like Super CitriMax® will have a greater and more measurable impact. Super CitriMax® is three times more effective at managing weight than diet or exercise alone. It’s also food and beverage friendly.
