Educating Clients on Food Labels to Increase Results

Your clients seek out your business desiring results, whether that means general fitness, endurance, bone strength, or weight loss. There are a multitude of possible goals, and the physical exercises and activities associated with the goals are only one component in the solution. The other is what your client consumes.

The average person has a hard enough time choosing ‘healthy’ options to build filling meals, let alone doing so on a budget or with calorie restrictions, etc. The more limits or specificities that are placed, the harder it becomes to follow. That leads to more ‘cheating’ and fewer results. Part of your goal is to educate your clients on how to follow restrictions while still eating well. It starts with understanding food labels, as well as the client mindset.

Typical Food Label Misunderstandings:

  • You need to eat more of a food labeled ‘healthy’ to feel satisfied. Foods high in protein are often the most filling, and that includes beans, seeds, nuts, and fish – all very healthy!
  • ‘Lightly salted’ is equivalent to ‘low sodium.’ ‘Lightly salted’ actually means a food has 50% less salt than similar foods, which is really not a means of gauging healthy options at all. A person following a healthy diet consumes less than 1500 mg of sodium in a day.
  • ‘High protein’ or ‘high fiber’ means that a food is good for you. A label claiming one of these could be building a sale based off of a single claim. It might also be high in fat and sugar. The good does not offset the bad.
  • Symbols associated with health on the package means the food is healthy. Many brands utilize symbols like an apple silhouette to give the sense of being healthy when they are, in fact, no better for you.

Consider building this food label education into your offered services or alongside a recommended dietary supplement like CardiaSlim®. With more information, your clients are more likely to succeed. That success, in turn, comes back to you.
