Fall Inspiration For Your Fitness Clients

Fall is a wonderful time of year full of pumpkins, chai tea, changing leaves, and fun holidays such as Halloween and Thanksgiving. It is a transitional season that can be a good catalyst for making positive changes. Below you will find some fall inspiration to help motivate your fitness clients to the next level or help new clients find a workout plan that fits their needs and goals.

  • Try a new workout. What may have energized your client through the summer may not be so effective during the fall and the following winter months. Take a moment to come up with a few new workouts for them to try during this transitional season. A few things to consider are hiking, rowing, cycling, and dance. If your client is well versed in several types of workouts, consider ramping up their current training or adding in high intensity training or additional strength training.
  • Exercise earlier in the day. Now that Daylight Savings has ended for the year, the days start earlier. It can be difficult to stay motivated in the evening this time of year when the sun sets so early and may people are heading home from work at twilight. Work with your client to establish an early morning workout routine that will inspire them! Establish clear goals and rewards for meeting them.
  • Indulge in seasonal fitness gear. Cooler weather warrants a change in wardrobe. For many people, new or updated fitness gear can be a huge motivator. Help your client find the best brands and gear for their workout routines. That way they can be comfortable and inspired to keep on through the fall and into winter.
  • Plan a winter vacation. One of the more exciting things to do this time of year is plan a winter vacation in January or February. Encourage your client to select a warm location as both a respite during the frigid winter months but also as an inspiration to stay motivated throughout the upcoming months. When there is an exciting vacation in the future, it’s easier to stay motivated and work towards fitness goals.
  • Add yoga or meditation to the routine. Shorter days, colder temperatures, and other weather changes make this time of year difficult for some. Do your clients do yoga or have a regular meditation practice? If not, now is the time to start. Yoga works the body and calms the mind and meditation has many similar benefits, including increased mindfulness and reduced stress. Start slow with your clients and help them develop a plan for including yoga and/or meditation in their daily lives.
