Motivate Your Clients to Work Out at Home

For some clients, it’s not possible to make it to the gym multiple times each week. There may not be a gym that is convenient for your clients, or maybe they simply can’t fit the commute time into their busy schedule. Working out at home is a great way to stick to a weight loss or fitness plan! Help your clients make strides toward their fitness goals by giving them helpful strategies to avoid distraction and get moving at home.

Have them Set Up an Exercise Space

Having a designated workout space at home is the first strategy to having successful at-home workouts. Ask your client where they have adequate space to exercise. Do they have a spare room that they could potentially turn into a home gym? Maybe they even have space in their garage. If you’re client is serious about working out at home, they’ll be able to find and exercise space.

The exercise space allows your client to escape the distractions of at-home responsibilities and will allow them to focus on their workout and their fitness goals. Depending on what you’re client’s goals are there are different workout essentials. For a basic full body workout, we’ve compiled a list of equipment to enhance the “workout at home” experience.

Equipment to Have:

  • Free weights
  • Stability ball
  • Yoga mat
  • TV or computer set up for exercise videos
  • Stereo for workout music

They Should Wear Gym Clothes in Their Gym

Your client may be working out at home, but they should dress like they’re going to gym! Putting on gym clothes, socks and appropriate footwear will help them feel prepared and mentally motivated for the workout before it starts.

Help Them Develop a Routine

Another great way to stay motivated for at-home workouts is to create a routine schedule. Having a set time to exercise will help your clients remain accountable. Ask them when they prefer to workout and what times work with they schedule. Are they able to wake up an hour earlier to exercise before the day begins? Would they rather work out after they drop their kids off at school? Help them find the best time to exercise and create a structured workout regime for them to follow. Staying consistent and being accountable is the only way to reach fitness goals.

With these helpful strategies, you’ll be able to help you clients find the time to work out and help them stay motivated for their health and fitness.
