Promoting Employee Health in the Workplace

Promoting Employee Health in the WorkplaceHaving a healthy work environment is beneficial for both the employee and the employer. From the employer standpoint, having healthy employees means that your company will see an increase in productivity, creativity, and teamwork while seeing a decrease in health-related expenses. From the view of the employee, workplace health is even more important. Staying fresh and healthy at work will help improve overall health and make the work day more enjoyable. Plus, employees that work together toward being healthy will help build better teams and lasting relationships. Below, we have outlined a few tips to help keep you healthy at work that are easy to do.

Drink Water!

Staying hydrated with a 8 to 10 glasses of water of day is a mandatory part of staying healthy. You can also get plenty of hydration from watery fruits such as oranges, apples, watermelon, and grapes. The dreaded 3:00 p.m. lull that people slip into is a direct result of being dehydrated. A good tip to drink plenty of water throughout the day is to bring your refillable water bottle. It helps to set goals throughout the day to finish and refill the bottle by set times.

Include Exercise Daily

Even if you are working in an office building with small cubicles, you can find a way to include exercise in your daily activity. It can be as simple as taking a quick walk at lunch, opting for the stairs instead of the elevator, or choosing to park in a space farther than you normally do to get a little bit longer walk to and from your office. Including some exercise will help to get your moving but also allow you to distress.

Stretch to Avoid the Long Stretch

Sitting at a computer for hours on end can result in eye, neck, and back strain. A serious medical condition is known as TNS, or Tension Neck Syndrome, can develop from straining your neck for long periods of time without taking a break. Make sure to regularly stretch out your neck and back to break up long stretches of time. People who spend a long time on the phone too are at risk for TNS from having their necks turned at an angle to talk.

Try a Daily Supplement

Taking a daily supplement can help boost your employee’s overall work health. Teach your employees about the benefits of a daily dose of antioxidants such as OptiBerry® available from InterHealth. This supplement is packed full of enriching benefits from blueberries, elderberry, cranberry, bilberry, raspberry seeds, and strawberries. Having a daily dose of antioxidants can help improve brain and heart health, keep a healthy urinary tract, and can make sure your eyes and skin stay healthy. Antioxidants can help prevent disease also. For more information about OptiBerry® contact the experts at info@interhealthusa.com or give us a call at 1-800-783-4636 for more information.
