Why Cardio? Explaining to Your Clients

As a health or fitness professional, it’s likely that you’re used to people asking about the importance of cardiovascular activity. And while many individuals fall short of the recommended 150 minutes of activity per week, it’s important to express the incredible benefits it can provide. Here are a few ways to answer when your clients ask about the importance of cardiovascular activity.

Why is cardiovascular activity important and how can I benefit?

  • Cardiovascular exercise helps burn fat and calories. It’s no secret that running a mile burns more calories than sitting on the couch. However, what your client may not realize is that lighter activity can still offer great calorie-burning benefits.
  • Cardio activity can help improve the quality of sleep. Studies show that people who exercise the weekly recommend amount saw a 65% improvement in sleep quality.
  • Reduce the risk of many diseases with cardiovascular activity. Heart attack, high blood pressure, diabetes, and high cholesterol are all concerns we face, especially as we age. By regularly performing light cardio activity, your clients may dramatically reduce their risk of these and other illnesses.
  • Cardio fitness may reduce stress. If your client expresses that they face stressful situations regularly at work, suggest a routine of moderate physical activity as it may help them get their stress under control in a healthy manner.
  • Even light cardiovascular activity can strengthen the heart. The heart is a muscle. And just like any other muscle, it gets stronger when regularly exercised. When we run, bike, or perform any other activity that elevates the heart rate, it strengthens the heart which makes it easier for the heart to pump blood throughout the day.

What cardiovascular activity is best for me?

  • Depending on the fitness level, experience, and aspirations, there are a variety of activities you can suggest. Here are a few options:
  • Running/Jogging. Whether it’s a light daily jog or a goal to run a 5k, this is a fantastic way to get in cardiovascular activity and see some beautiful scenery along the way.
  • Cycling. For less impact but an equally rewarding activity, cycling is a great way for your client to elevate their heart rate, exercise their entire body, and have fun.
  • Swimming. Water provides opportunity for plenty of activity. Whether they would like to swim laps indoors, try aqua aerobics, or head down to a local pool or lake for water fitness in the sun, swimming provides a full body workout with minimal impact and high resistance.
  • Group Fitness Classes. A group class is a great way for your client to have fun and get active in a supportive atmosphere.
  • Walking. Even so much as a daily walk can provide a wealth of health benefits. It can also lead to conversation and activity with a loved one.

No matter where your client is on their health and fitness journey, suggesting cardiovascular activity is almost always a good idea. And, this is just scratching the surface. There are plenty of other activities that are enjoyable that provide the excellent benefits of cardio. We also recommend that you suggest adding a supplement containing CardiaSlim® to their routine. CardiaSlim® is a patented blend of Sphaeranthus indicus and Garcinia mangostana shown in 3 randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled studies to improve cardiovascular health by supporting healthy blood lipid levels and body weight.
